Based At Community Hall, Mayor Of Surabaya Absorbs Citizens' Aspirations

SURABAYA - The Mayor of Surabaya, East Java, Eri Cahyadi expressed his readiness to take turns at the Neighborhood Community (RW) office as an effort to absorb aspirations and get closer to the residents.

"The plan is, tonight starting at 18.00 western Indonesia time, I will start working at the Neighborhood Community hall in Surabaya," said Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 25.

Eri Cahyadi explained that in governance such as in the city of Surabaya, there is such a thing as a Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) and the main idea of the Surabaya DPRD. If the two go their separate ways, the development program in the city of Surabaya can stagnate.

“At the Neighborhood Community office, we will gather the community heads, Neighborhood Community heads and LPMK to talk about what needs to be improved for the progress and welfare of the citizens of Surabaya. It means, no more trouble for our residents, if necessary, if there are residents who want to complain, please while I'm 'working' in the RW,” he said.

Eri Cahyadi added that the Surabaya City Government wants to know what priority scale will be carried out or executed at the Neighborhood Community level. Like the problem of poverty, Eri tries to find a solution as soon as possible to overcome it.

This means, he said, fellow RWs should not be selfish when doing poverty alleviation or citizen assistance that is really needed by residents.

“With my office in the RW, there will be mutual cooperation among the Neighborhood Community heads. For example, there is a Neighborhood Community head who insists on paving his village, while other Neighborhood Community heads don't want to lose. So, I will work at the Neighborhood Community hall," he said.

Eri Cahyadi said that as a public servant, his party must be at the forefront to serve the citizens of the city of Surabaya.

He admitted that he would not be able to walk alone moreover if in the lower level, such as the Neighborhood Community level, did not move. He gave an example of a resident with a widow status who has not received social assistance, as soon as he found out he immediately helped.

"What I regret is why the village head and his Neighborhood Community don't know," he said.

When asked which Neighborhood Community it started in?, Eri said he didn't know. "But for sure starting tonight I will have an office at the Neighborhood Community hall," he said.
