Army Chief Of Staff Impressed With US Armaments At Schofield Barracks

JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Andika Perkasa admitted that he was impressed with the war equipment at Schofield Barracks which is the headquarters for the 25th infantry division of the United States (US) military.

"At Schofield Barracks there are training grounds and weapons for United States Army Pacific personnel. The equipment they have is very impressive," said Army Chief of Staff General TNI Andika Perkasa, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 25.

The Army Chief of Staff together with a number of delegations from other Indo-Pacific countries came to the 12th Indo-Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

To get to Schofield Barracks which is located at the foot of the Waianae Mountains or near the cities of Wahiawa and Mililani, Kasad and other state delegates flew by Black Hawk helicopter about 30 minutes from Honolulu.

Upon arrival at the location, the Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific General Charles A. Flynn immediately took him around the training locations and weapons areas for United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) personnel.

At Schofield Barracks there are heavy vehicles for combat, helicopters including rifles that are used to maintain defense in the area.

The Indo-Pacific country delegates also saw a simulated firing with one of the Schofield Barracks combat equipment, which was founded in 1908, to provide a base for the defense of the army at Pearl Harbor and the rest of the island.

The visit of the Army Chief of Staff and the delegation of Indo-Pacific countries to Uncle Sam's country as well as attending the 7th Senior Enlisted Leader Forum (SELF) at Fort Shafter, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, USA.

The activity was jointly organized by the United States Army Pacific and the Papua New Guinea Defense Force. The Indo-Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference is a forum for exchanging views and ideas, and bringing together senior Army leaders.
