PPKM Evaluation This Week, Luhut Says COVID-19 105 Regencies/Cities Are Still Up And Down

JAKARTA - Menkomarves Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan explained the evaluation of the weekly PPKM implementation. This week, Luhut said the COVID-19 pandemic was still under control.

Indonesia and Java-Bali confirmed cases have each fallen by 98.9 percent from their peak cases on July 15.

However, Luhut said that there were still 105 regencies/cities that experienced fluctuations in the increase in COVID-19 cases.

"There is an increase in cases in 105 cities and regencies throughout Indonesia, although this is still well controlled," said Luhut in a virtual press conference, Monday, October 25.

Therefore, said Luhut, President Joko Widodo reminded the ministers to continue to be aware of the increase in cases in the area in question, in order to prevent the emergence of a third wave of COVID-19.

One of the efforts that will be made is tightening a number of activities. This tightening will be carried out in the extension of the PPKM next week.

"We see that there are still indications of ups and downs. Of course we need to be careful. So we will take many steps later, sometimes they may be considered too strict, but we have no choice," said Luhut.

In a limited meeting this afternoon, Jokowi also reminded his assistants to look at the pandemic conditions in these cities and regencies in more detail and immediately dispatch a team in the field to immediately intervene in the area.

In addition, Luhut considers that acceleration of vaccination still needs to be done, especially for the elderly, if you want to reduce PPKM levels to more cities and regencies in Java and Bali.

"This will certainly provide additional cities and regencies that will meet the requirements (PPKM) Level 2 and Level 1 if these conditions can be maintained,"

So far, the decline in levels in several districts and cities in Java and Bali has had an impact on increasing the mobility composite index above the baseline. "From the adjustment or relaxation of PPKM is the management of field supervision," Luhut explained.
