Jokowi-Maruf Battered In The SMRC Survey, But Praised In The Poltracking Survey On Pandemic Handling

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Poltracking Survey Institute, released the level of public satisfaction with the government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Maruf Amin. The result is quite high, as much as 65.4 percent of the public are satisfied with the performance of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The level of satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin specifically in handling the COVID-19 pandemic is 65.4 percent," said the Executive Director of Poltracking Indonesia, Hanta Yuda, Monday, October 25.

Nevertheless, Hanta said that 28.1 percent of the public still considered the performance of the Jokowi-Maruf government to be poor and very bad in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. This figure, he said, is relatively not much different from the general level of satisfaction with the performance of the Jokowi-Maruf government.

"The level of public satisfaction with the government's performance is 67.4 percent, while those who are dissatisfied are 27.8 percent," he explained.

More specifically, Hanta explained, the level of public satisfaction with President Joko Widodo's performance was 68.4 percent, while those who were dissatisfied were 28.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the level of public satisfaction with the performance of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin is 60.3 percent and dissatisfied by 34.1 percent. Poltracking noted that satisfaction with the government's performance in the health sector was 60.0 percent. This figure is higher than public satisfaction in the economic sector of 55.8 percent.

"Furthermore, the education sector has a satisfaction level of 58.0 percent. This figure is quite high," said Hanta Yuda.

"Then the next area is, this is the lowest, the satisfaction level of the government's performance in the field of law enforcement is only 50.8 percent and 32 percent are not satisfied, and 14.9 percent do not know or do not answer," he added.

Furthermore, in the field of defense and security, the level of satisfaction itself is at 54.6 percent. Hanta said that the area of government that has the highest level of public satisfaction is in the fields of politics and national stability.

"So usually the previous government was quite noisy with the struggle between the executive and the legislature. Now it is lacking, so it is considered stable so that the highest level of satisfaction is at 64.1 percent," said Hanta Yuda.

A face-to-face survey that will be held on October 3-10, 2021. Using the multistage random sampling method with 1220 respondents and a margin of error (MoE) of approximately 2.8 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
