KUPANG - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) received as many as 303 reports from the people of East Nusa Tenggara regarding the administration of government in the area.

"The people of NTT are quite active in using the complaint services provided by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), but unfortunately the reports are mostly outside of criminal acts of corruption," said KPK Deputy Chairwoman Lili Pintauli Siregar at the Coordination Meeting for the Integrated Corruption Eradication and Submission of Certificates from PLN and Regional Governments in NTT Province, in East Nusa Tenggara. He stated that this was related to the role of the community in efforts to eradicate corruption within the local government in NTT Province.

The KPK recorded that the number of NTT public reports in 2018 was 178 reports, in 2019 (107 reports), and 2020 (18 reports), while in 2021 there were still no reports.

Lili explained that based on the offense, reports or complaints from NTT residents were more dominant in the form of unlawful acts or abuse of authority that resulted in state losses as many as 167 reports, 101 reports of non-corruption crimes, 18 reports of bribery, and 10 other criminal acts related to corruption.

He said that although the report was dominated by non-corruption, the KPK did not stop the report but forwarded it to the authorities or institutions.

"Where the report came from, we will continue to forward it to law enforcement officials who are indeed handling criminal cases related to the report," he said.

Lili added that the higher the public's awareness to criticize, the better it would be in an effort to encourage improvements in local government administration.

The coordination meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of NTT Josef Nae Soi, Chair of the NTT DPRD Emelia Nomleni, Head of the NTT High Prosecutor's Office Yulianto, regional heads from 22 regencies/cities throughout NTT, regional leaders and ranks of PT PLN (Persero).
