The Man Who Swims In BKB Gambir At Night, Has Not Been Found Until Now

JAKARTA - Abdul Gopur (31) was declared missing when he was swept away by the current of the West Flood Canal (BKB), RT 10/07, Cideng Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

The whereabouts of this man, a resident of Jalan Petojo VIY VII, RT 15/06, Cideng Village, Gambir, is still unknown. As of Sunday morning Monday morning, Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-department officers were still searching for them using rubber boats.

According to Bayu, an eye witness to the incident, the victim was seen swimming in the BKB river at around 00.15 WIB. Then the missing victim was not seen again.

"The drowning victim has been reported since Monday, October 25, early in the morning," he said, Monday, October 25, early in the morning.

Meanwhile, the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Officer M Taufik confirmed that the victim, Abdul Gopur, was swept away in the BKB at 00.15 WIB.

"He was fetching water while swimming at night with his friends. At first he was seen and suddenly disappeared," said Taufik.

Central Jakarta's Gulkarmat party received a report about Taufik's disappearance at 01.00 WIB. 25 minutes later, three rescue teams arrived at the scene to look for victims.

However, after two hours the officers conducted a sweep in the West Flood Canal, the victim had not yet been found.

"At 03.20 WIB the search was temporarily suspended due to limited night vision," said Taufik.

Confirmed separately, Public Relations of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office, Ramli Prasetio, said that his party had not yet been deployed to assist in the evacuation of victims in the Kali BKB area, Cideng, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

"Not yet (deployed SAR). While it is still under the handling of the Provincial Damkar and BPBD," he told VOI.
