East Java Governor Encourages Doctors By Sending Tumpeng To The Hospital To Welcome Doctor's Day

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa encouraged doctors by sending tumpeng rice to a number of hospitals to welcome National Doctors Day 2021.

"Tumpeng is a form of gratitude and thanks from the doctors who have struggled to be at the forefront of handling COVID-19," he said at the Grahadi State building, Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 24.

Khofifah said that without the hard work and sincere work of doctors and health workers, it would be difficult for East Java to get out of the situation due to COVID-19.

"They are risking everything to help patients with COVID-19," he said.

"Not only serving, treating, caring for and accompanying patients. Some of them have even become victims of being exposed to COVID-19," continued Khofifah.

Through this tumpeng, Khofifah hopes that doctors in East Java will remain enthusiastic, never give up, believe and always strive to help people in need.

"Doctors and other health workers are not alone, we are with the TNI/Polri and various other elements of society are also fighting. God willing, the pandemic will end soon," said the first female governor in East Java.

In addition, Khofifah revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic situation in East Java continued to slope. In fact, it has now succeeded in becoming an area with the most cities and regencies designated as PPKM level 1 in Java and Bali based on the Minister of Home Affairs Number 53 of 2021.

Not only that, the bed occupancy rate (BOR) of the hospital ICU when there was an exponential increase in last July fell by 73 percent, from 78 percent to 5 percent.

Then, the BOR for Hospital Isolation fell by 78 percent, from 81 percent to 3 percent.

"Let's keep conditions like this by remaining disciplined in carrying out health protocols and accelerating vaccinations. Anyway, don't be careless and don't slack off," said Khofifah.
