358,560 Illegal Kretek Cigarettes Worth IDR240 Million, Secured By KPPBC Kudus

JAKARTA - The Enforcement Team for the Office of Supervision and Customs Service (KPPBC) Madya Kudus Type, Central Java, secured a minibus carrying 358,560 cigarettes suspected of being illegal, in Robayan Village, Jepara Regency.

"The disclosure of the illegal cigarette case occurred on Wednesday (20 October) after the Kudus Customs Intelligence and Enforcement Team received information that a silver minibus was allegedly used to transport excisable tobacco products (BKC HT) in the form of plain cigarettes in the Jepara area, "said Head of the Extension and Information Services Section of the Middle Type KPPBC, Dwi Prasetyo Rini, in Kudus, Saturday, October 23.

The information, said Dwi, was followed up by the enforcement team who rushed to conduct a sweep on the Jepara-Demak Highway. As a result, a minibus according to the characteristics sought was stopped without a driver in a residential area, precisely at Gang Mangga 1, Robayan Village, Kalinyamatan District, Jepara Regency.

From the results of the examination, it was found that 358,560 cigarettes of machine-made kretek (SKM) were not attached with an excise tape with an estimated total value of Rp. 365.8 million and the potential loss to the state that was saved was Rp. 240.41 million.

Furthermore, all evidence including the minibus was immediately secured to the Kudus Customs Office for further examination.
