Star Hotels In Mataram Almost Fully Booked By Guests World Superbike

MATARAM - The Tourism Office of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, said that a number of hotels in Mataram have received room reservations from guests for the World Superbike (WSBK) activity which will be held at the Mandalika Circuit, November 19-21.

Head of the Mataram City Tourism Office (Dispar) H Nizar Denny Cahyadi said the hotel room reservations were made by guests through an online system.

"Alhamdulillah, our five-star hotels in Mataram on average have full bookings for November 2021 and almost all guests for WSBK activities," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 21.

The grand event of world motorcycle racing at Pertamina Circuit Mandalika, Central Lombok Regency has had a significant impact on tourism behavior in the city of Mataram.

Although the activity took place in Central Lombok Regency, as a buffer zone, Mataram City received a significant economic impact and this became an opportunity as well as a breath of fresh air for tourism actors.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism actors seemed to be 'sleeping' because there was no tourism activity as a result of the policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM)," he said.

Related to that, his party hopes that WSBK activities can boost hotel occupancy as well as the economy in Mataram City.

"Data from a number of hotels shows that hotel occupancy has now reached 72 percent. We should be grateful for this figure because the condition continues to increase compared to previous months," he said.

To support WSBK, Denny added, Mataram City has prepared 4,077 rooms, but around 2,777 rooms can be used because 1,300 rooms are used by Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) for employee quarantine.

"The 2,777 rooms include three hotels that previously became COVID-19 emergency hospitals, namely Hotel Nutana, Fizz and Grand Iin," he said.
