JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has again appointed a new suspect in the investigation into the alleged corruption in the management of the free nutritious meal program (MBG) at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the period 2025-2026. The latest suspect is Brigadier General Pol. Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan (LMI) who is currently serving as deputy secretary for promotion and cooperation at the BGN.

Director of Investigation of the Attorney General's Office for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said the determination of the suspect status was made after investigators found sufficient evidence.

"LMI previously served as Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of BGN until March 2025, then was entrusted to be deputy secretary for promotion and cooperation," said Syarief at the State Attorney's Office building, Jakarta, Thursday, July 2.

Investigators suspect LMI has a role in procuring food trays for prospective partners of the nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG).

According to the Attorney General's Office, in 2025 LMI allegedly asked two witnesses with initials YCS and RD to establish a company which was then used to sell food trays to prospective SPPG partners.

In this practice, the selling price is said to have been determined by LMI. Investigators suspect that there is a certain profit allocated to the suspect as a condition for the procurement to be approved.

However, the Attorney General's Office has not revealed the value of the profits allegedly received by LMI nor the amount of state losses arising in the case. The investigation is still ongoing to delve into the flow of funds and other parties suspected of being involved.

After being named a suspect, LMI immediately underwent detention for the first 20 days at the Salemba Detention House Branch of the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office.

In this case, LMI is suspected of violating the provisions of Article 12 letter a, letter b, or letter e of the Law on Eradication of Corruption Crimes in conjunction with the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law Number 1 of 2023.

With this determination, the number of suspects in the case of alleged corruption in the management of the MBG program at the National Nutrition Agency increased to seven people. The Attorney General's Office ensures that the investigation process is still being developed to uncover all parties suspected of being responsible for the case.
