Different From The Secretary General Of Gerindra, Dasco Affirms That No Presidential Candidate Decision Has Been Made For 2024

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, emphasized that his party has not officially decided who the cadres will be nominated as presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election.

"Currently, the Gerindra Party has not declared the person proposed as a presidential candidate, although now there has been a lot of pressure", Dasco said at the House of Representatives building, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 21.

According to him, the Gerindra Party will present its presidential candidate at the right time.

Dasco explained that the consideration of the presidential candidate that will be carried by the Gerindra Party will be considered in an official forum created by the political party.

"Those considerations will be taken into account in a forum that was created for that purpose, so I don't want to make assumptions now. I told you it was a mechanism within the Gerindra Party", he said.

Previously, Gerindra Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani echoed Prabowo Subianto's 2024 presidential candidacy plan. If he really ran, this would be the third time for Prabowo to compete as a presidential candidate after running 2 times and losing in the previous presidential election against Joko Widodo.

"I said, in 2024, Mr. Prabowo, God willing, will advance in the presidential election. His progress is because of the massive demand from all of us, the people's expectations are high, development must continue, our ideals as a party have not been realized", said Muzani some time ago.

Muzani said that in the 2019 presidential election, Prabowo as a presidential candidate managed to win in South Sulawesi with a percentage of 57 percent.

For this reason, he asked all administrators of the Central Executive Board (DPP) and Branch Leadership Council (DPC), Sub-Branch Leadership (PAC) to branches in South Sulawesi to close ranks so that the target of winning the presidential election with the target of 65 percent of the vote could be achieved.

"Our determination to win Mr. Prabowo in 2024 must be greater, I respectfully request that no members of the South Sulawesi House of Representatives cause us to lose", he said.
