JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has received a loan of IDR 12.5 trillion from the central government to continue the regional program which has been delayed due to the budget diversion for handling COVID-19.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that the loan funds came from the state-owned company (BUMN) PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktru (SMI) Persero. The loan repayment period is given for 10 years.

"DKI Jakarta is proposing Rp. 12.5 trillion. A total of Rp. 4.5 trillion is used for 2020 and Rp. 8 trillion (for budgeting, red) in 2021," said Sri Mulyani at the Ministry of Finance Office, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 27.

The projected programs that will be carried out from this loan fund range from the provision of drinking water, flood control, waste management, transportation, sports, to improving the tourism sector.

In fact, a number of these programs have been budgeted and will be implemented this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of budget has been diverted for handling COVID-19.

As a result of delays in flushing the budget for a number of programs, a lot of local revenue (PAD) has been affected by various sectors. The biggest reduction in income was in the electricity and gas sector.

"The electricity and gas sector dropped minus 16.2 percent because many offices, trade centers and hotels had decreased (electricity and gas consumption, ed)," said Sri Mulyani.

Then, PAD from the services, electricity, construction, water supply and trade sectors decreased by 4.6 percent, education was reduced by 4.4 percent, and processing industry decreased by 3.2 percent.

"DKI was hit quite badly, economic growth fell to 5.06 percent. In fact, the quarter to quarter (q to q) fell -0.56. This is the low economic growth since the last 10 years due to the impact of COVID-19," he said. he.

Overall, this year's PAD DKI has decreased by 54 percent or IDR 31.13 trillion. Then, the increase in the APBD deficit rose to Rp. 11.7 trillion, or in this case 0.4 percent of the region's Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB).

On the same occasion, Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan expressed his gratitude for the loan received through PT SMI. With this funding, Anies is optimistic that Jakarta's economy can rise up and spread to the national economy.

"Jakarta has a large enough share in the Indonesian economy. Therefore, if we can accelerate the recovery in Jakarta, it will have a national impact," said Anies.
