JAKARTA - Spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) Wiku Adisasmito said the government could tighten community mobility again if the number of cases experienced an increasing trend.

"If there is a significant or consistent worsening of conditions, it can be indicated that tightening will be carried out soon," said Wiku Adisasmito, who was confirmed in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 21.

Wiku said the government continues to read the data in formulating policies as an instrument for controlling the pandemic. To prevent an increase in cases, the public must be disciplined in implementing health protocols.

Wiku said the government was continuing to harmonize efforts to control COVID-19 and economic recovery. "So we ask for the cooperation of all parties to work together in carrying out existing policies with a high awareness and sense of responsibility," he said.

He also appealed that the fading pandemic must be accompanied by strict health protocol discipline. "Specifically related to mobility, the public must pay attention to 3M's travel requirements and discipline during the trip," he said.

Based on reports from the behavior change dashboard, said Wiku, public compliance with masks and social distancing over the past month has been consistently above 90 percent nationally.

"But the next task is to ensure that discipline is implemented per region and even compliance continues to reach 100 percent," he said.

Separately, an epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Public Health (FKM UI) Iwan Ariawan also appealed to the public to continue to obey travel procedures and when entering public places, and always apply health protocols.

“The public must always be reminded of the importance of doing prokes. Education is very important and must be continued," he said.

Iwan reminded that the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) policy had not been revoked. So that the district/city PPKM level can go down or up according to the indicators.

“If the PPKM indicator shows deterioration, then the PPKM level in the district/city can be increased, which means there is another tightening of population mobility. This needs to be done to keep the COVID-19 outbreak under control in Indonesia," he said.
