Starting August 1, McDonald's Requires Customers To Wear Masks

JAKARTA - McDonald's announced that all customers wear masks when entering the fast food restaurant area. This was done to anticipate the spread of the corona virus or COVID-19 that hit the United States (US).

The regulations, which will take effect from August 1, are part of a number of new safety measures being implemented by the Golden Arches. McDonald's also stopped reopening its dining room for 30 days and installing new plastic barriers on the front and back of the restaurant.

"Nearly 82 percent of our restaurants are located in states or regions that require masks for crew and customers today. Therefore, it is important for us to protect the safety of all employees and customers," a McDonald's statement said.

McDonald's is following in the footsteps of retail giants such as Walmart, CVS and Target, which in recent weeks have required customers to wear masks if they wish to enter the premises.

This policy became a polemic because it sparked a fight between employees and customers who refused to cover their faces. In this regard, McDonald's said it would provide training for restaurant staff to ensure they were prepared to handle the new policy in a friendly and positive manner.
