JAKARTA - Former spokesman for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Febri Diansyah appreciates the work of investigators and the support team who recently carried out a hand arrest operation (OTT) and ensnared the inactive Musi Banyuasin Regent, Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin on Friday, October 15 yesterday.

However, he asked the buzzers or buzzers on social media not to claim that this silent operation was successful in proving that the current KPK is better than before. Moreover, until this October, only five times the anti-corruption commission held OTT.

The data shows that in 2021, the KPK only carried out four silent operations until last September. Meanwhile, in 2020, the anti-corruption commission only carried out seven OTTs. While in 2019 there were 21 OTTs carried out and the most occurred in 2018 with 30 OTTs.

Based on this data, Febri said that the decline in the performance of the KPK, which was based on the number of OTTs, was actually correlated with a decline in the level of public trust. Although I don't know why, this is evidenced by the findings of a number of survey institutions in the country.

"The @LSI_Lembaga and @indikatorcoid surveys show that in 2019 the KPK was the most trusted first (86), down until 2021 at 4th (65) and was under the National Police," he said.

Furthermore, Febri knows that there are many parties who will later respond by saying that the measure of eradicating corruption should not only be seen from the OTT carried out but a broader index. However, he reminded the parties to pay attention to the Corruption Perception Index issued by Transparency International Indonesia (TII).

In the perception index, Indonesia's number actually dropped by 3 points compared to the previous year from 40 to 37. So, he asked all parties to really convey a strong commitment to eradicating corruption, not just talk.

"Indonesia's CPI, which fell from 40 to 37 in 2020, was influenced by 9 other survey indexes. Look at which ones have fallen even to 12 points, constant and only 1 has increased, and that's the lowest... @TIIndonesia. So if anyone claims eradication Corruption continues to improve, it is better to look in the mirror," said Febri.

"What is even sadder is that in 2020, among 17 countries in Asia, we are "champion" 3 with the highest bribery rate according to the Global Corruption Barometer (GCG) @TIIndonesia.
