JAKARTA - Political observer Rocky Gerung has again spoken out loudly about the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train (KCJB). The project was built by PT Kereta Api Indonesia-China or KCIC. The financing for the project swelled to US$8 billion, so that it took from APBN funds.

Rocky said President Joko Widodo should have canceled the project because according to economists and independent consultants, the development would actually be detrimental.

"A variety of economic analyzes and even international consultants hired by the government give a minus value. It means, don't go ahead, actually, all economists have agreed that this should not be continued," explained Rocky through the Rock Gerung Official Youtube channel, quoted Saturday, October 16.

If the government insists on continuing this project, it means that other calculations will be used instead of the rationality aspect. First, said Rocky, about President Joko Widodo's ambitions or the whispers from 'shamans' to continue.

"There are shamans who want to rob the path, maybe there are minerals that will be exchanged for something like that. But what is clear is that this project must be canceled, there is no rationale, a justification for the project,"

Rocky added, actually this fast train project includes online loans (pinjol). This is because, at first, the government promised not to deplete the state budget for project financing. However, later, due to failure to anticipate, the APBN was used.

As state treasurer as well as economist, according to Rocky, Sri Mulyani should speak out loud on this issue.

"I'm waiting for Sri Mulyani to comment, because being a cashier, she has to take money out of the state budget. She knows it's not economically feasible, even as an economist, she should not pay, and that's the problem. only," said Rocky.
