JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo revealed the origin of the nickname 'Jokowi' for himself. Through his Twitter and Instagram accounts, he uploaded the story.

In his upload on Sunday, November 10, he explained that the nickname 'Jokowi' was not his childhood nickname. The summons was given by one of Jokowi's colleagues in France, Bernard Chene. The reason for Bernard Chene to call Jokowi is to make it easy.

"My name is Joko Widodo, called Jokowi. And this nickname sticks not from me, but since knowing Bernard Chene. He's my friend. French," said Jokowi.

In the upload, Jokowi also embedded a video containing Bernard's story. The video is about a minute long. The video contains Bernard Chene's explanation of the origin of Jokowi's nickname.

Bernard said, French people like short nicknames. Meanwhile, the name Joko Widodo is too long for them.

"Then I asked him. If you don't mind, can I just call 'Jokowi'? And that's how the story started," said Bernard.

Bernard also talked about how he felt when Jokowi's name became famous. In addition, only Bernard and Jokowi knew about the summons.

"Now, everyone calls him by that name. Yes, maybe a little happy, because I made it, great !," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the definition of Jokowi's name in three words, Bernard said that he was reliable, trustworthy and very smart.
