JAKARTA - Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah assessed that the actions of PDI-P politician Adian Napitupulu who openly stated that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked him to submit the name of a candidate for commissioner in a state-owned company (BUMN) as his own initiative.

This was conveyed by Dedi in connection with Adian's statement, who publicly acknowledged that Jokowi had asked for the names of candidates for commissioners and candidates for ambassador and denied any rumors if he asked BUMN Minister Erick Thohir for a position.

"Although PDIP politician, Adian speaks more on his own behalf and PDIP does not prohibit or condone it," said Dedi when contacted by VOI, Friday, July 24.

Not accommodating PDIP at the Ministry of BUMN at this time, continued Dedi, also made Adian more flexible to shake up the BUMN Minister. "And the PDIP's silence is certainly in reading the developments," he said.

Furthermore, Dedi assessed that the fuss over the position of BUMN commissioner who was said to have been given to Jokowi's supporters in the 2019 Presidential Election was actually closer to the truth. Previously, PDI-P politician Adian Napitupulu emphasized that he had never put forward his own name or the name of 98 activists to get the position of commissioner in State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to BUMN Minister Erick Thohir.

So far, he admitted, it was President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who had asked him to submit a list of names or figures deemed appropriate as BUMN commissioners.

So, if Erick admits to rejecting the names of the proposed commissioner candidates, he will instead question where the rejected names come from.

"Who gave him that he refused? I didn't give it to him. I gave it to the President, why? Because I was asked. I gave to Kemensesneg. So if he says he refuses, refuses the names given to whom? President?" he stressed.
