Ummat Party: Jokowi Failed, Treat Cancer Stage Of Agrarian Conflict By Sticking Patches

JAKARTA - In the midst of the resignation of a number of cadres, the Ummat Party began to try to show its existence. The Ummat Party highlighted the failure of President Joko Widodo's government in handling agrarian conflicts.

"The Ummat Party considers President Jokowi to have failed to manage the agrarian conflicts that have occurred over the past 5 years, which has led to widespread inequality and injustice throughout the country," said General Chairman of the Ummat Party Ridho Rahmadi in a video statement quoted Friday, October 15.

But ironically for the Ummat Party, even though this agrarian conflict has reached a very worrying stage, there are no signs of a comprehensive solution that touches the root of the problem by the government.

"The government is still playing around with partial solutions, not infrequently involving security forces which are illegal in a democratic country," he said.

“The government's way of resolving agrarian conflicts so far is like treating stage cancer by attaching patches to sick body parts to cover up the face of agrarian conflicts that are already ravaged by malignant cancer. They put lipstick on their lips to hide the fact that, even more ironic, during this pandemic, agrarian conflicts have actually increased," said Ridho Rahmadi.

Ridho emphasized that the Ummat Party is obliged to warn the government not to take agrarian conflicts lightly, which has the potential to trigger social unrest.

"This injustice is about land distribution, not land certification," he said.

Therefore, the Ummat Party calls for three demands to the government, namely establishing an agrarian reform authority body, collecting valid and integrated agrarian control data and realizing agrarian residence maps and agrarian dispute settlement road maps.
