JAKARTA - PPP DPP chairman Achmad Baidowi or commonly called Awiek in a discussion at the DPR RI said that PPP is open to a coalition with the Golkar Party. PPP Chairman Suharso Monoarfa could be the running mate for Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto in the 2024 presidential election.

"For PPP to have an open coalition with the Golkar party, even yesterday there was a discourse between Airlangga Hartarto and Suharso Monoarfa, the Golkar chairman and the PPP chairman.

Awiek thinks that by pairing Suharso with Airlangga, it makes a complete couple. PPP and Suharso from religious parties will complement Golkar as a nationalist party. Also, Suharso will complete the configuration of characters from outside Java with Airlangga who comes from Java. "The conditions for the Islamic nationalist configuration have been met and Java outside Java has been fulfilled, that's one option," he said.

Even so, Awiek said there had been no official discussion regarding the Golkar-PPP axis discourse. PPP respects the dynamics and strategies of other political parties in facing the 2024 General Election. "We respect what happened in the Golkar party and other parties as well as we at PPP have taken their own steps," said the Deputy Chair of the DPR RI Baleg.

On the same occasion, Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP Ace Hasan Syadzily said, the Golkar Party only needs one party to form a coalition to carry the presidential candidate pair. Ace said who would accompany Airlangga depending on the dynamics and communication with other political parties.

"The Golkar Party itself only needs one party to be able to nominate Pak Airlangga and who will the presidential candidate be with, it depends on the dynamic process of political communication carried out with other parties," said Ace Hasan Syadzily about the duet of Airlangga Hartarto and Suharso Monoarfa.
