JAKARTA - The Percut Sei Tuan police chief, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra was removed after the viral mother of a trader at Gambir Market, Deli Serdang, became a suspect despite being abused by thugs. The former Percut Sei Tuan police chief was immediately questioned by Propam.

“I would like to inform you that the aftermath of the matter yesterday, the Criminal Investigation Unit has been withdrawn and the Percut Sei Tuan Police Chief has now been transferred. This was stated in the telegram letter that the Regional Police Chief concerned was transferred as an officer of the North Sumatran Regional Police in the context of the Propam investigation," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, October 14.

The position of the Police Chief of Percut Sei Tuan is now held by Kompol Muhammad Agus Setiawan. The removal of old officials was confirmed by the National Police Headquarters because they were not professional in handling cases.

"Of course it is related to his unprofessionalism in carrying out his duties. Of course, this will be further investigated in addition to administrative penalties. Currently, the investigation process by the North Sumatra Police Propam Division is ongoing, "Ramadan said.

Viral Mother of Vegetable Traders Beaten by Thugs

Previously, a video showing female traffickers being beaten by thugs went viral on social media. The incident occurred in Gambir Market, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.

In the video, you can see a bustling market atmosphere and a commotion between 2 thugs and a female trader in pink.

The female merchant was seen screaming and grimacing in pain from receiving the thugs' punches and kicks.

"This female merchant was beaten badly by two thugs at Gambir Tembung Market. The case has also been reported to the Sector Police," the video narration wrote.

Percut Sei Tuan police chief, AKP Jan Pieter said that a perpetrator of the abuse had been arrested by the police.

"We have secured what went viral on social media, which persecuted a street vendor (PKL) a woman who happened in Gambir Market, Percut Sei Tuan District," he said, Tuesday, September 7.

AKP Jan Pieter said the suspect was still undergoing investigation. However, from a temporary investigation, the motive for the persecution was triggered by the problem of parking a motorcycle rickshaw (betor).

"The motive is because the mother who sells in that place, her goods are placed in a trishaw. Its position is in front of the road," said AKP Jan Pieter.

Next, BS, who happened to be passing by, saw the position of the rickshaw eating the road. He was annoyed and asked the rickshaw to be moved.

"It was said that the rickshaw should not be moved in front of the road, it was made and a fight broke out. And at that time there was a kicking urge by the reported party," he said.

Regarding the suspicion that BS is a thug, the police are still investigating.

"So far, what we know is that he wasn't a thug there. According to the suspect, he went there spontaneously, happened to pass by," he said.
