JAKARTA - The Jakarta Satpol PP found various reasons when they took action against residents who did not wear masks when they left their homes during the transitional large-scale social distancing (PSBB) period.

Head of DKI Satpol PP Arifin said the most reasons ranged from forgetting to underestimating the transmission of COVID-19. Not wearing a mask is also the most violation of PSBB in DKI.

"The reason they did not bring masks was firstly because they forgot, secondly, because the distance from the house was quite close, then it was too long and bored, there were those who thought that COVID-19 was safe, normal," said Arifin when contacted, Friday, July 24 .

Arifin said, until now there were around 37,883 people who violated the COVID-19 prevention protocol by not wearing masks when leaving the house.

This violation was recorded since the beginning of the implementation of the transitional PSBB period from June 5 to June 16. The enforcement of this punishment is still in effect, in line with the extension of the transitional PSBB until July 30.

"Those who did social work were 34,500 people, who chose a fine of 3,383 people. The money that was deposited into the regional treasury as a sanction for disciplinary violations was Rp570,510,000," Arifin explained.

This violation action is usually carried out on main roads and crowded points of residents, such as the Kramat Jati Market, the Asemka Morning Market, and the road in front of the Jakarta Islamic Center mosque.

"We carry out the prosecution for PSBB violators more aggressively. We hope that this operation will increase the compliance of the residents," said Arifin.

For information, the provisions of PSBB violators are regulated in Governor Regulation Number 41 of 2020 concerning Imposition of Sanctions against Violations of Large-Scale Social Restrictions in Handling Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in DKI Jakarta.

This Pergub is intended as a basis for imposing sanctions on violations of the implementation of the PSBB. In Article 4 of the Pergub, there are three sanctions for people who do not wear masks.

First is administrative sanction written warning, then social work sanction in the form of cleaning public facilities by wearing a vest. Then the last one is an administrative fine of at least Rp 100,000 and a maximum of Rp 250,000.
