Not Discouraged, the Offender Who Blocked ATMs Arrested Again While Back in Action in Cengkareng

JAKARTA - A perpetrator of theft by jamming a BCA ATM card with the initials DS (33) was arrested by the police while in action in the Cenderawasih Raya gas station area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

Cengkareng Police Chief, Commissioner Abdul Jana said that suspect DS was assisted by his two friends OI and BI during the action. The two friends are currently still being hunted by the police.

"We managed to secure the perpetrator DS when he tried to deceive the victim by exchanging the victim's ATM card," said Commissioner Abdul Jana when confirmed, Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The chronology of the incident began when the victim named Novia wanted to withdraw money from the ATM machine.

When the ATM card could not be inserted into the machine, the perpetrator DS pretended to help and tried to demonstrate how to insert the card, while exchanging the victim's card with the perpetrator's card.

The victim who felt suspicious then realized the fraud and immediately asked for help.

Luckily, members of the Cengkareng Police who were on patrol passed by the location and immediately secured the perpetrator DS

The police also secured evidence in the form of 30 ATM cards from various banks, a hacksaw, and the Toyota Rush car used by the perpetrator.

In addition, Abdul Jana added that the perpetrator DS is a recidivist with the same case.

"The perpetrator has just been released from prison, with a similar case," he said.

To be held accountable for his actions, the suspect DS was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft.
