MALANG - Malang City Police has issued a new innovation, namely a mask dispenser. This tool is capable of removing masks and hand sanitizers automatically using a touchless sensor.
Malang City Police Chief AKBP Budi Hermanto said this tool was created to make it easier for Malang City residents to get used to wearing masks. With this tool, it is hoped that it will spur public awareness to enforce health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This tool is made in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya. This mask dispenser is a box containing a mask and hand sanitizer.
"It's enough to face the palm of the hand to the dispenser button, the mask will come out by itself. Likewise with the hand sanitizer," said Budi Hermanto, Thursday, October 14.
This idea originated from the thought of Buher—the Malang Police Chief's nickname—who saw a vending machine. The idea was then welcomed by a student of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya Malang, Alfian Fitrayansyah and his team.
Later each of these boxes can accommodate 70 masks and 50 ml of hand sanitizer. This mask dispenser will be installed at 3 points, namely in the lobby of the Malang City Police, the partner police post in the Alun-alun area and the Krida Budaya Park on Soekarno-Hatta Street.
"We will not rule out the possibility that we will spread it at other points," said the Malang Police Chief.
Buher said this innovation was carried out by the Malang Police to support efforts to comply with health protocols to deal with COVID-19.
Previously, mass vaccination outlets were also prepared, the Malang City Police Trauma Healing Task Force, drive thru and door to door vaccinations were also prepared
Meanwhile, the Dean of the UB Faculty of Engineering, Hadi Suyono, explained how this dispenser works using 2 input sensors, a mask sensor for dispensing, and a second HCSr sensor. If detected within 5 cm, it will issue a mask and hand sanitizer.
"The remaining masks and hand sanitizers can be displayed on the counter dispenser screen," he said.
