NU Kediri Branch Manager Has Not Determined Attitude About PBNU General Chair Candidates

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Manager of Kediri City, East Java, has not yet made a decision regarding the candidate for the General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board at the NU Congress in December 2021.

"Until today we haven't talked about it (support). Later we will follow the ranks of the syuriyah and mustasyar in taking a stand at the congress," said Chairman of the PCNU of Kediri City, KH Abu Bakar Abdul Jalil, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

He said this was following the support given by the East Java PWNU to KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya as a candidate for the General Chair of the NU Executive Board (PB).

He said, in accordance with the AD/ART and the results of the Kombes Kombes that the NU congress that had voting rights was each branch. The muktamirin can voice his voice in the general chairman election.

His party has heard a number of names are widely rumored to be candidates for general chairman. The East Java PWNU supports Gus Yahya as a candidate for the General Chair of the PBNU for the period 2021-2026 at the 34th Congress in Lampung which will be held on December 23-25, 2021.

In addition, the name of the General Chairperson of PBNU, KH Said Aqil Siradj, was also widely supported, for the third time. Likewise, the name of the Chairman of the Tanfidziyah PWNU East Java, KH Marzuki Mustamar.

Gus Yahya also visited Kediri several times, visiting the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri City and the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School, Ploso Village, Mojo District, Kediri Regency.

Likewise with Kiai Said, who also recently visited Kediri, visited the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School and Al Falah Islamic Boarding School, Kediri Regency. Both also have good experience in leadership.

However, until now there has been no definite decision related to the direction of support. Of these names, all have potential, he said.

"Everyone has potential, whoever becomes NU must be. There is no name yet," he said.

Even though the East Java PWNU has provided support for Gus Yahya as a candidate for the General Chair of the NU Executive Board (PBNU) for the 2021-2026 period, Gus Ab, as KH Abu Bakar Abdul Jalil is familiarly called, until now PWNU has not invited PCNU communication in East Java.

"Indeed, PWNU has such an attitude and it has not been socialized to the PC (branch management)," he said.

According to him, whoever is elected should be able to answer the challenges ahead. Currently, the challenges are not only religious matters, but also beliefs, creed, social, legal, political and so on, especially facing the presidential election.

The inauguration of the Kediri City PCNU board was also attended by the Assistant for General Administration of the Kediri City Government, Nur Muhyar, the Chair of the East Java PWNU Tanfidziyah KH Marzuki Mustamar, the PCNU management at the city level to the branch, and other invited guests.
