Held Children's Birthday Luxury Party, Village Head In Tulungagung Violators Of Prokes Sentenced To A Fine Of Rp. 8 Million

TULUNGAGUNG - A village head in Tulungagung, East Java was found guilty of violating health protocols for holding a lavish birthday party for his son during the implementation of PSBB (large-scale social restrictions) in early 2021. The village head was fined Rp. 8 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.

The court's decision was read out by the panel of judges at the Tulungagung District Court.

"This verdict is lighter than the prosecutor's demands," said the Head of Intelligence at the Tulungagung District Attorney's Office, Tri Radityo, confirmed after the verdict reading was quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 12.

Hariyanto, the Head of Karangsari Village, was found guilty of deliberately holding a birthday party by inviting many people during the implementation of PSBB on a number of city protocol roads. However, the prosecution is still thinking about it.

In the previous trial, the public prosecutor demanded that Hariyanto be sentenced to a fine of Rp. 12.5 million, subsidiary to six months in prison. Hariyanto was charged with Article 93 of UURI Number 6 of 2018 concerning Quarantine.

This violation was carried out when Hariyanto held a luxury party for his daughter at the "Singapore Water Park", during the implementation of the PSBB in early 2021. After the party, the Singapore Water Park was sealed by the Police.

Haryanto's verdict was finally handed down more lightly on the grounds of humanitarian considerations. According to him, the defendant was cooperative during the trial, frank and polite.

"During the trial, the defendant behaved politely, frankly and cooperatively," he said.
