Riau Police Failed To Smuggle 87 Kg Of Sabu, 2 Boats Confiscated

PEKANBARU - The Riau Police's Drug Investigation Directorate team thwarted the international drug smuggling network by arresting 7 perpetrators along with 87 kg of shabu-shabu as evidence.

The seven arrested perpetrators are AS (20), MA (19), YF (30), MS (22), AS (20), DA (54) and AG (52). In addition, 2 ships suspected of transporting crystal methamphetamine have also been secured.

"The perpetrators were arrested when they entered Dumai City as the entrance from the waters. From them, 87 kg of methamphetamine was confiscated in a wooden hut," said Riau Police Chief Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi accompanied by the Director of Drugs, Kombes Victor Siagian, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 11.

According to Agung, the mental destroying powder came from abroad via waters anchored in Dumai City. The methamphetamine was transported by boat and fiber boat to be immediately lowered to the storage point.

"Initially the officers arrested the five perpetrators and later developed two sea couriers," said Agung.

Meanwhile, the Director of Drug Research at the Riau Police, Kombes Victor Siagian, revealed that the 86 kg drug smuggling attempt was foiled by the Drug Directorate I Sub-Directorate Team led by AKBP Hardian, on Friday, September 25. Officers deliberately waited at a wooden hut in Tanjung Nelayan, East Dumai.

After waiting, he said, the perpetrators arrived at the location and the police immediately arrested the three perpetrators who were originally around the wooden hut. Meanwhile, two more people were taken not far from the location.

The police then conducted a search on the perpetrators. The police then checked the location around the wooden hut and found a blue box containing 5 black bags.

"Officers found 87 packs of methamphetamine in the box, then the team carried out development and re-arrested two perpetrators who worked as transporters or marine trishaws," said Victor.

According to Victor, the two transporters were suspected of having a role in bringing the methamphetamine and illicit goods from the Malaysian border to Dumai City.

The drugs were brought from Malaysia to Dumai and planned to be brought and distributed to Jambi, Palembang and Lampung.
