JAKARTA - Pertamina is preparing the Cilacap Refinery to test produce green avtur at the end of 2020. Previously, Pertamina had successfully tested the Green Diesel D-100 production at the Dumai Refinery for 1,000 barrels per day.

Pertamina's President Director Nicke Widyawati explained that his company will conduct the first Green Avtur production trial by co-processing injection of 3 percent palm oil or CPO.

Nicke said that the CPO has been further processed so that the sap, impurities and odor (Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil / RBDPO) are lost in the existing Cilacap refinery facilities.

"The Green Avtur trial is part of Pertamina's biorefinery development roadmap in the context of realizing green energy in Indonesia," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, July 23.

Furthermore, Nicke said, apart from the Dumai Refinery which has succeeded in processing 100 percent of palm oil into Green Diesel D-100, Pertamina will also build two other Standalone Biorefineries, namely in Cilacap and Plaju.

The Standalone Biorefinery in Cilacap will later be able to produce green energy with a capacity of 6,000 barrels per day. Meanwhile, the Standalone Biorefinery in Plaju has a capacity of 20,000 barrels per day. The two Standalone Biorefineries will be able to produce Green Diesel and Green Avtur using 100 percent vegetable oil as raw material.

Green Gasoline

Nicke said Pertamina was not only conducting trials on Green Diesel and Green Avtur. But also on Green Gasoline. According to him, several world companies can process palm oil into Green Diesel and Green Avtur. However, this is not the case for Green Gasoline.

"Pertamina continues to move in line with the trend of world energy supply by striving for the presence of green energy. Apart from the Green Diesel and Green Avtur which will be tested, Pertamina has also conducted Green Gasoline trials. For green gasoline, Pertamina is the first in the world," he said.

Green gasoline has been successfully tested at the Plaju and Cilacap refinery facilities since 2019 and 2020 where Pertamina is able to process palm oil raw materials up to 20 percent injection.

According to Nicke, Pertamina's steps to conduct this trial are in accordance with the president's direction to optimize domestic resources to build national energy security, independence and sovereignty.

Nicke also added that green energy will utilize palm oil which is abundant in the country as the main raw material. So that Green Energy products have a very high TKDN. This step is also positive because it will reduce the country's transaction deficit and boost national economic growth.

Previously last week, Pertamina said that the successful trial of Green Diesel D-100 production reached 1,000 barrels per day at the existing Dumai Refinery facility. The D-100 is processed from 100 percent RBDPO with the help of a catalyst made by the Pertamina and ITB Research and Technology Center.

In a performance trial through a 200 km road test, the D-100 was used as fuel mixed with diesel and FAME and was proven to produce higher quality diesel fuel with a higher cetane number, more environmentally friendly with higher exhaust emissions. low, and save more fuel use.

"This trial shows that from a technical point of view, Pertamina's production is ready, then we need to think about it so that the economy can also be achieved," he said.
