Indonesian Forest Products Are Present At Expo 2020 Dubai, One Of Them Is Frankincense Perfume

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) brings four products that represent Indonesia's best products from non-timber forest products, processed wood forest products, and community products around the forest. Everything was brought to the Dubai Expo which will take place from 8-14 October 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Non-timber forest products have promising development and utilization potential. One of them is reducing tree cutting to take forest wood products. There are at least 565 non-timber forest products that have the potential to be utilized.

Some of the NTFPs that will be brought to the Indonesian Pavilion range from rattan, frankincense, to honey. It turns out that the fashion industry currently has a great interest in woven rattan, especially Kalimantan rattan.

In addition, frankincense perfume is also displayed. Although for centuries, frankincense has always been the scent for burning incense, now frankincense is present as a world-class perfume with a fragrant and soft aroma. Although it does not contain alcohol, frankincense perfume can last up to 16-24 hours.

One of the processed wood products brought to the Indonesian Pavilion is a tropical wood radio. Produced from trees that grow in Indonesia, ranging from pine, mahogany, to rosewood, these three trees can produce very good sound resonance.

With an antique design, it turns out that this radio made in the Temanggung area, Central Java has managed to penetrate the global market and has won various international awards.

On the other hand, there are products that can solve the problem of plastic waste that has become a problem throughout the world. One of the MSMEs in Bangka Belitung uses the purun lake plant as an alternative to plastic straw products.

Purun Danau straws are disposable straws that cannot be washed like bamboo straws. Even though they are single use, these straws will not pollute the environment because they can be destroyed and decomposed by themselves, even it only takes one week to decompose with the soil.

Finally, the product of the community around the forest that was also displayed was walnuts from Makian Island, North Maluku. Being one of the NTFP products, Makian walnuts are said to be able to make a big contribution to the country's economy in the forestry sector. Having similarities with almonds which tend to be expensive, Indonesia is proud to have local products that have penetrated the Global Market through the Makian walnut commodity.

Coffee commodities also take part in the rolling exhibition, as is Liberika coffee grown on peatlands. This type of coffee can provide a unique taste where the aroma is like the aroma of jackfruit with a strong sour taste.
