Gorontalo Prosecutor's Office Arrests Yancen Battling Fugitive In Illegal Wood Case

GORONTALO - The Gorontalo High Prosecutor's Office for Arresting Fugitives (Tabur) has arrested fugitive Yancen Tangkilisan, a convict in a forestry crime case in Bayou, North Luwuk District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi.

Head of the Legal Information Section of the Gorontalo Prosecutor's Office, Mohammad Kasad, said that the convict's arrest was carried out in collaboration with the Intelligence Team of the Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office and the Banggai District Attorney's Office on Saturday, October 9.

Yancen who is a convict in a forestry crime case violated Article 83 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.

"The convict Yancen Tangkilisan carried wood that was not accompanied by a legal certificate of forest products," said Kasad, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 10.

For his actions, the Supreme Court in its decision Number: 1942K/Pid.Sus/2018 dated December 20, 2018 sentenced the convict as stated in the verdict.

First, rejecting the appeal from the Petitioner for Cassation I/Defendant Yance Tangkilisan, Petitioner for Cassation II/Public Prosecutor at the Gorontalo District Attorney's Office. Second, to charge the defendant to pay court fees at the Cassation level of Rp. 2,500.

"With the Supreme Court's decision, the convict must serve a year in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, provided that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for three months," said Ksad.

Mohammad Kasad explained that if the convict ran away while being executed by the Public Prosecutor's Team, he would be put on the wanted list (DPO) or wanted by the Gorontalo City District Attorney.
