Banjarmasin Walkot Officially Sends Protest Letter To Center, COVID 0 Percent But PPKM Status Level 4

BANJARMASIN - Mayor (Walkot) of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, H Ibnu Sina explained his reason for protesting against the extension of PPKM level 4 in his city until October 18, 2021.

"I have sent an official letter to protest the extension of PPKM level 4 to the central government," he said in Banjarmasin, Antara, Friday, October 8.

He explained that this official protest should be carried out by the city government because it has been very maximal in handling COVID-19 so that the transmission drops drastically.

"Hopefully, the central government can evacuate the decision," said Ibnu Sina.

Moreover, the central government through the Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery Airlangga Hartarto had previously issued a statement that there were no more PPKM level 4 outside Java and Bali.

"This gives hope, then there is no level 4 province, including South Kalimantan. Why did Banjarmasin City become level 4," said Ibnu Sina.

This is what Ibn Sina protested. Because the community is very burdened with the prolonged PPKM level 4 status. With this status, Banjarmasin has passed the PPKM status for 12 weeks, from 26 July to 18 October.

"Because the reality is that currently in hospitals, especially Sultan Suriansyah Hospital, there are zero COVID-19 patients at this time, Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital only has five COVID-19 patients," he said.

With all the efforts that the City Government has put in to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, of course it will be dispersed by the extension of this level 4 PPKM.

"If it's like this, it's as if we don't work, the City of Banjarmasin seems tense, even though it's perfectly normal, the cases of COVID-19 have gone down a lot," said Ibnu Sina.
