Demand Rector And 3 Deputies Resign Due To Violation Of Oath Of Office, BEM UMK Hearing With Regent Of Kudus, Hartopo

KUDUS - University of Muria Kudus (UMK) students demanded the rector of UMK along with three vice-chancellors to resign for allegedly violating the oath of office in the appointment of vice-chancellors and in the appointment of structural officials. Students accused the chancellor of not being transparent.

Alvin Rizqya, chairman of the UMK Student Executive Board (BEM) made an audience with the Regent of Kudus, Hartopo at the Kudus Regency Pendopo, Friday, October 8.

"The Chancellor of UMK is also considered to have violated governance in the statute by placing another vice chancellor under Deputy Chancellor I, and related to the lack of transparency in the appointment of structural officials," said Chairman of BEM UMK Alvin Rizqia in Kudus, quoted from Antara.

The Regent of Kudus Hartopo will follow up on student reports including allegations of intimidation from desen towards students.

"We will follow up on this problem. After hearing student reports, the management at UMK must be improved," he said.

The Regent also emphasized that intimidation in the campus area is not justified because the campus is a place for students to study to achieve their goals. The academic community must work together to create a conducive situation so that students are comfortable to study and organize.

"The campus is a place where students study comfortably. So, it is unfortunate that there are unscrupulous lecturers who intimidate students," he said.

For that, he asked the Chairman of the UMK Foundation to protect students who openly express their complaints so that there is no more intimidation or threats of dropping out.

"We ask the Chairman of the Foundation to protect and protect fellow students. Do not let any students be expelled," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the UMK Trustees Foundation, J. Wahyu Wardhana, thanked the Kudus Regent for listening to the aspirations of the students.

He said that his party would follow up with the Chancellor regarding student reports.

"We are also ready to protect students from campus intimidation if there is news related to problems on campus from various mass media," he said.

Responding to this, the Chancellor of UMK Darsono said that the demand for withdrawal must have a mechanism that must be taken.

"Why has it only been revealed now, not long ago. We are also ready to be evaluated. It would be better if students came to us to seek clarity because we are open," he said.
