INDRAMAYU - The Office of National and Political Unity (Kesbangpol) of Indramayu Regency, West Java stated that the South Indramayu Community Communication Forum (F-KAMIS) is an illegal non-governmental organization (NGO), because it is not registered.

"Of the 120 NGOs, mass organizations, and foundations registered at Kesbangpol Indramayu, there is no F-KAMIS name," said Head of Internal Affairs for Kesbangpol Indramayu Adi Purnomo, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 8.

Previously, the Indramayu Police had named seven suspects, both administrators and members of F-KAMIS, because they were strongly suspected of being the masterminds of the clashes that resulted in the death of two sugarcane farmers.

The NGO that was the mastermind behind the bloody tragedy in the sugarcane fields of PG Jati Tujuh was apparently not registered at the Kesbangpol Office of Indramayu Regency.

Adi Purnomo said that according to the law, NGOs, mass organizations and foundations must register with Kesbangpol.

"This is regulated in Government Regulation (PP) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 58 of 2016 concerning the Implementation of Law Number 17 of 2013 concerning Social Organizations," he said.

Adi added that if NGOs or mass organizations were not listed in districts or cities, they were not allowed to carry out activities in those areas.

Even the absence of F-KAMIS in Kesbangpol, according to Adi Purnomo, could mean that F-KAMIS is an illegal NGO.

"(F-KAMIS) can also be called illegal, because after checking the data from 2016-2021, they don't see data about F-KAMIS," he said.
