JAKARTA - The Executive Committee (Exco) of the Labor Party is optimistic that it can meet the requirements to pass the verification of the General Elections Commission (KPU) so that it is registered as a participant in the 2024 General Election.

Labor Party President Said Iqbal said his party had prepared most of the requirements to pass the verification. These include management at the central, provincial, district, to sub-district levels, as well as the number of members/cadres.

Two crucial conditions that need to be met by the Labor Party in accordance with KPU regulations, namely management in all provinces, 75 percent of the number of districts/cities in each province, and 50 percent of the number of sub-districts in each district/city.in Jakarta, Friday.

Another important requirement is that the Labor Party must have at least 1,000 active members 1/1,000 of the total population in party management at the district/city level. This membership will be proven by having a membership card (KTA) and a resident identity card (KTP).

Said Iqbal said that the Labor Party already has administrators in 34 provinces or in all provinces. From a total of 514 regencies/cities, the Labor Party already has management in 409 regencies/cities.

"In other words, the management (at the) district/city level of the Labor Party has reached 80 percent on average from the total number of districts/cities. Although there are three provinces that have not fulfilled 75 percent, the figure is 71-72 percent, on average already 80 percent," Said Iqbal said during a press conference at the Labor Party Office, Antara, Jakarta, Friday, October 8.

Then, the Labor Party also has management in 1,650 sub-districts, while the minimum requirement is 3,621 sub-districts.

"On average, the Labor Party fulfills 40 percent of the 50 percent requirement required by the KPU," said Said Iqbal.

Said Iqbal further explained that the members of the Labor Party had exceeded the minimum requirements. "Members are spread across 409 regencies/cities, 1,000 each," he said.

He mentioned that there are around 100,000 to 200,000 members of the Labor Party in industrial cities, such as Jabodetabek.

Therefore, the Executive Committee of the Labor Party is optimistic that it will pass the KPU verification, and even pass the parliamentary threshold in the 2024 election.

The reason is that some of the conditions that have not been met will be fulfilled by the party in less than 10 months until the deadline for verification registration which is predicted to take place on August 11, 2022.
