TNI Soldiers Become Computer Teachers For Children At The Border

JAKARTA - The rapid development of technology and the lack of technological facilities at the border have made the Pamtas Mechanized Infantry Battalion 643/Wns Task Force take the initiative to teach basic computer science to children in Panga Hamlet, Semanget Village, Entikong District, Sanggau Regency.

Those who became 'computer teachers' were 4 personnel of the Pamtas 643/Wns Panga Task Force headed by Serda Soni Anja Eswara to elementary and junior high school age children in Panga Hamlet, Semanget Village, Entikong District.

This was stated by the Dansatgas Pamtas Mechanical Infantry Battalion 643/Wns, Lt. Col. Inf. Hendro Wicaksono, in a written statement at Makotis Entikong, Sanggau Regency, Thursday, October 7th.

Dansatgas said, teaching computer science is very useful for children when there are lack of computer facilities at border schools and also during the COVID-19 pandemic, which requires online learning.

"Computer technology is very useful, especially for young children who are still in school, for that basic knowledge of computers is mandatory to be introduced from an early age, so that later they can be more familiar with computer technology at various levels of education," said Lt. Col. Hendro.

"As it is known that computers are not a new thing nowadays and when looking for a job there is always a requirement to master a computer, on this basis we have taken the initiative to teach children from an early age so that they can help their future and can also build border areas," said Dansatgas.

Separately, Danpos Panga Letda Inf Yopi Prasetyo said that the introduction of basic computer materials was deliberately taught considering the lack of facilities and teachers in charge of IT materials in schools in the village, coupled with the progress of everyday human life so that if they do not get computer learning from now on , it will complicate the future of the child.

"We teach children basic computer materials, starting with turning the computer on and off and then introducing other basic computer applications such as word, excel, powerpoint and how to open the internet," he said.

Siska, one of the students, expressed her gratitude to the personnel of the Task Force at Pos Panga for patiently teaching computer science so that she and her friends could operate computers.

"Thank you Army, now my friends and I can use computers, so it feels really good that my friends and I finally know and can use computers," he said.
