JAKARTA - The National Police stated that the investigation into the alleged child rape case in East Luwu could be reopened. Provided, new evidence is found that can help uncover the case.

The case of child rape is handled by the East Luwu Police. However, the investigation process of this case was stopped due to a lack of evidence.

"If new evidence is found in the process, the investigation may be reopened", said Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Thursday, October 7.

Rusdi explained that this case actually occurred in October 2019. During the investigation process and the results of the case, no strong evidence was found regarding the existence of a rape crime.

"The conclusion from that case title is that there is not enough evidence. Once again, there is not enough evidence related to the criminal act of obscenity", said Rusdi.

Therefore, the East Luwu Police also issued a Letter of Termination of the Investigation Process (SP3). However, Rusdi emphasized that the investigation team had worked professionally and according to the rules.

However, it was reiterated that there was not sufficient evidence to conclude a criminal act.

"So far, a warrant has been issued to stop the investigation of the case. For what reason? Because the investigators did not find enough evidence that there was a criminal act of obscenity", said Rusdi.

For information, three minors are suspected of being rape victims in East Luwu, South Sulawesi.

However, during the medical examination carried out at the public health center, no signs of rape were found. Because, there were no visible abnormalities, such as abrasions or signs of violence on the rectums of the three children.
