SMRC Survey: Despite Top Rank, PDIP Voters Drop In Last Two Years

JAKARTA - The Saiful Mujani Research Center (SMRC) Survey Institute released the results of a poll on the public's choice of political parties in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

SMRC's research director, Deni Irvani, said that PDIP still dominates respondents' choices for political party support with 22.1 percent gain.

However, this figure has decreased in the last 2 years. In the 2019 survey, PDIP was supported by 25.9 percent of respondents.

"In the last two years after the 2019 election, the people's vote for the PDIP has tended to decline, although it remains at the top," said Deni in a virtual survey presentation, Thursday, October 7.

After PDIP, the political party chosen by the most respondents was Golkar with 11.3 percent gain. Then, followed by PKB which was supported by 10 percent, Gerindra 9.9 percent, Democrats 8.6 percent, PKS 6 percent, and Nasdem 4.2 percent.

"Meanwhile, other parties are below 3 percent and respondents who don't know which party to vote for are 18.8 percent," said Deni.

Deni explained that the current Gerindra voter has also decreased 1 percent since the last 2 years by 10.7 percent. Meanwhile, voters for Golkar, PKB, Democrat, PKS, and Nasdem tended to increase. Then, PAN and PPP tend to stagnate or weaken.

It is known that this survey was conducted from September 15 to September 21, 2021, to respondents who were Indonesian citizens who were 17 years old or older, or were already married when the survey was conducted.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews to 1,220 randomly selected respondents. The margin of error for this survey is estimated at 3.19 percent and the survey confidence level is 95 percent.
