JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the development planning or groundbreaking of the Growing Productive Stacking Village in Jatinegara, Cakung, East Jakarta today.

The Susun Village was intended for residents of Bukit Duri who were affected by eviction due to the normalization of the Ciliwung River in 2016 which was then carried out by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) when he was governor of DKI.

At the inauguration ceremony of the construction, Anies emphasized that he had fulfilled his promise to provide housing guarantees for the residents of the eviction victims.

"Today we are starting to pay off a promise. We are all grateful for the events at the end of September 2016, an event that will never be forgotten from the memories of all of you. This city belongs to all of us, not only the bears, but anyone in Jakarta has the right to have a decent place to live," said Anies at the location, Thursday, October 7.

The construction of Kampung Susun was built after the Panel of Judges of the Central Jakarta District Court granted the class action lawsuit of the residents of Bukit Duri to the DKI Provincial Government regarding the eviction.

Accepting the verdict, Anies finally provided land in Jatinegara to build their residence. This Kampung Susun will be built with 2 building blocks, each with a height of 5 floors for 79 residential units.

The type of mezzanine residential unit is 36 m², each unit is facilitated with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, family room, study room, kitchen, and a growing room or MSME room.

Anies said that the construction of Kampung Susun is targeted to be completed in March 2022.

"God willing, it will be completed in March. There are three messages to builders, on schedule, on budget, on quality. If those three are implemented, God willing, we can be grateful for that later," said Anies.
