KPK: Infrastructure Development Must Really Be Implemented And Avoid KKN

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata reminded that infrastructure development in the country, which is the government's focus, must be carried out properly and away from corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) practices.

This was conveyed by Alexander when opening the discussion on the National Strategy for PKing on Preventing Corruption in the Procurement of Construction Services which was held online on Wednesday, October 6.

"Infrastructure development can really be carried out by avoiding corruption, collusion, and nepotism. We're just working well," said Alexander as shown on the StranasPK Official YouTube.

According to him, the infrastructure development program which is the focus of the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) must be carried out properly without deviations here and there. Moreover, the budget to support this program is not small and even reaches hundreds of trillions.

"It's a shame that developments that cost hundreds of trillions of dollars actually have a lot of irregularities here and there. Hopefully we can work with professionalism and integrity," he said.

However, this hope seems far away. The reason, Alexander explained that most of the corruption cases he handled were related to the procurement of goods and services.

He even said that since the KPK was founded in 2004 until June 2021, of the 1,291 corruption cases handled, most were related to infrastructure procurement.

"Regarding procurement in the construction sector during 2020 to March 2021, the KPK has handled 36 corruption cases with various modes such as bribery, gratification, too high a value of HPS (Self Estimated Price) or markup. construction sector," explained Alexander.

So, he hopes that in the future the Ministry of PUPR and the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) will improve the procurement system. Including optimizing the use of e-catalog for construction work and standardizing HPS.

"These HPS are often not uniform even though the specs are the same, but the HPS varies depending on the area where the project is carried out. This is of course the work of the PUPR Ministry to standardize HPS and the quality of the projects being carried out," he concluded.
