JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) Prof Wiku Adisasmito said the government was preparing a mobility policy during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"The government is preparing a policy to anticipate long holidays, which of course cannot be separated from the precautionary principle," said Wiku, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 5.
He said, currently Indonesia is in a fairly controlled condition, so it is appropriate to maintain it by not being complacent and remaining cautious.
"We ask local governments to supervise community activities by assisting in clear socialization in their respective areas, in particular the details of health protocols that must be carried out to minimize the chance of transmission as much as possible," he said.
Wiku said positive cases in Indonesia this week decreased by 34.6 percent compared to last week.
While active cases, he continued, were below one percent, namely 0.86 percent in the last week.
Meanwhile, the average recovery due to COVID-19 was recorded to have increased to 95.77 percent in the past week.
Wiku added that anticipation also applies to mobility from abroad to Indonesia.
"The opening of international entrances will also pay attention to the fulfillment of travel requirements and the screening mechanism after entering Indonesia," he said.
Specifically related to monitoring foreign variants, Wiku said, Balitbangkes supported by 17 laboratories capable of supporting whole genome sequencing (WGS) efforts will continue to optimize resources and monitor the distribution of variants in various regions.
"Later on, the monitoring results will be communicated transparently to the public," he said.
