Doctor Reisa Broto Asmoro: Large-Scale Event Committee Must Form A COVID-19 Task Force

JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 and Behavior Change Ambassador dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro said it was mandatory for the committee that held an event to form the COVID-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) if it was going to hold an activity on a large scale.

“So it is mandatory to have a team that functions as an internal (COVID-19) task force in these activities. Always communicate with the local task force both in preparation and licensing as well as during implementation and after activities," said Reisa in a Healthy Broadcast entitled "Stay Alert When Activities Increase" which was followed online in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, October 4.

Reisa said the government has issued guidelines for organizing large-scale activities or meetings in which rules have been arranged for both activities before the event starts and after the event is finished.

In the regulation, it is explained that the committee and team formed need to always involve the local COVID-19 Task Force in the entire process of the event being created.

The establishment of the special committee aims to be responsible for ensuring that all participants continue to apply health protocols, as well as build partnerships with the government and local health facilities, especially readiness to deal with cases that arise.

Before the event starts, the team formed must provide health education for all participants, ensure that the facilities, facilities and infrastructure continue to carry out the health protocols set and screen all participants who will take part in the event.

"We must first provide health education for all participants, so that all of them have the same understanding, especially about preventing transmission," said Reisa.

In addition to forming a special team as the COVID-19 Task Force for the event, he said the committee also needed to develop guidelines for the implementation of the event that were equipped with contingencies such as prohibiting participants who were positive for COVID-19 to continue their activities.

Reisa emphasized that when holding events on a large scale, the committee and task force must also follow the actual development of COVID-19 cases, especially for case data for the area where the event was held.

During the event, he explained that the committee must ensure that medical devices are easily accessible to the people who attend and continue to carry out health promotions during the event consistently.

“Also do health promotions during the event consistently. So, the special committee ensures that the health protocol is implemented and ensures that all participants comply with this health protocol," he stressed.

Finally, he mentioned that all supervision by the committee must continue even after the event is over. The committee must ensure that no positive cases pass to the area of origin and that there is no transmission during the event.

“It must be ensured that there are no positive cases that pass to the area of origin. Make sure there is no expansion of transmission, before fully recovering through optimizing quarantine after arriving from the area," said Reisa, stressing what needs to be done at the end of the event.
