JAKARTA - Based on the records of the Central Jakarta Social Sub-dept., as many as 1.377 people with social welfare problems (PKMS) have been arrested during the period January to September 2021.

The number of PMKS in downtown Jakarta is divided into several classifications. PMKS includes 323 homeless people, 182 displaced people, and 150 buskers.

Based on the results of the Central Jakarta Social Affairs Sub-Department's search for the last nine months, April was the month with the most PMKS netting around 329 people.

Then, during the last two months, the number of PMKS netted experienced a downward trend. In August it fell to 85 people and fell again in September to 57 people.

"The PMKS who are caught will be fostered in social institutions to be given skills training such as air conditioning service, motorbike mechanic, sewing, salon, and welding," said Head of Social Affairs Office of Central Jakarta, Abdul Salam when contacted by VOI, Monday, October 4.

While related to the question of silver man, Salam said, silver man, is a new phenomenon of economic pressure and need.

He considered all Regional Apparatus Work Units (SKPD) must be involved in solving these social problems.

"A follow-up is given in the form of coaching to the business world that has collaborated with the orphanage," he said.

After undergoing training during coaching, the PMKS will be given production tools according to the training they have received.

"For example, joining a salon training, then you can get salon equipment. Of course, it is not as complete as a real salon, because there are budget constraints. Those who take part in mechanic training are given workshop tools, tire patches," he said.

After participating in the training, they will be distributed to companies that have collaborated with social institutions.

"The orphanage will distribute their assistance to the business world," he said.
