BENGKULU - A total of six minors were named as suspects in the case of drug trafficking and abuse in the Rejang Lebong area, Bengkulu.

Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Puji Prayitno said their involvement was calculated from cases from January to September 2021. Drug trafficking and abuse is now a cause for concern. In addition to targeting various age groups, its circulation has reached remote villages.

"Disclosure of drug abuse cases in the jurisdiction of the Rejang Lebong Police, from January 1 to September 30, 2021, yesterday reached 58 cases involving 65 people as suspects, of which six were minors and one woman," said Puji reported from Antara, Sunday, October 3.

Some of the suspects have dropped out of school. Some of these six people have been sentenced by the panel of judges at the Curup District Court.

In addition to successfully securing 65 people as suspects, the Rejang Lebong Police also managed to secure a number of evidences, including 141.45 grams of methamphetamine, 120.7 kg of marijuana and 10 ecstasy pills.

The investigation into drug trafficking and abuse cases, he added, for the disclosure of the Rejang Lebong Police, as many as 39 cases have been transferred to Phase II, namely to the Public Prosecutor, even most of which have been sentenced by the Curup District Court judges and nine cases are still under investigation.

"As for the disclosure of the police in the ranks of the Rejang Lebong Police, as many as six cases have been transferred to stage II and five cases are still in the process of being investigated," he explained.

He appealed to the community and the local government to jointly fight cases of drug trafficking and abuse, if they are not assisted, they will experience difficulties because apart from the limited number of personnel, there is also a large area that must be monitored.
