Viral Ambulance Carrying Sick Elderly Blocked By Avanza In Kramatjati, Driver Was Angry

JAKARTA - The upload of a video on Instagram social media with the @emergencyresponseindonesia account containing the ambush of an ambulance has gone viral again.

In an amateur video recording, an ambulance delivering critical patients from Emergency Response Indonesia was blocked by the driver of a Toyota Avanza that was traveling on Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramatjati, East Jakarta, Saturday, October 2, evening.

According to Donang, one of the Emergency Response crew, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 20.00 WIB.

At that time, the ambulance was carrying an elderly patient who was sick due to complications from the Pasar Rebo Hospital to Pulogebang, Cakung. In fact, the ambulance siren sounded by the ambulance but the other drivers did not pay attention to the sound of the emergency siren.

At that time, road traffic conditions were also congested. So the ambulance driver was forced to go through contraflow (opposite direction) due to an emergency.

"The position in Kramatjati is stuck, so we switch to contraflow. Before the market," he said when contacted, Sunday, October 3.

However, from the opposite direction, the Avanza car did not provide lane access to the ambulance. In fact, the Avanza driver actually blocked the ambulance vehicle. The Avanza driver also looked angry when the ambulance took the contraflow route.

"We brought the patient home. His house is in Pulogebang. (The Avanza driver) was angry, he was upset. Had to tell the volunteers," he said.

When the ambulance driver ordered the Avanza driver to check the patient's cargo, the driver ran away. Then the ambulance again continued its journey to the patient's house.
