PONTIANAK - Kites are generally a form of simple play, but this object will actually be very dangerous to flight safety if flown around the airport or air base area.

Commander of the Indonesian Air Force Base (Danlanud) Supadio, First Marshal (Marsma) TNI Palito Sitorus, urged the local community not to play kites carelessly. The socialization was carried out by inviting the village head who lives around the Lanud and Supadio Airport.

"We are socializing the ban on playing kites around the Supadio Air Base area. If it violates, there are sanctions stipulated in law number 1 of 2009 on aviation," said Marsma Palito Sitorus, as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 20.

He explained, Article 210 of Law Number 1 of 2009 concerning Aviation states that it is prohibited to be in certain areas such as airports by creating obstacles that can endanger flight safety.

"Activities that interfere with aviation safety include playing kites, drones, laser light, hot air balloons, herding livestock, using radio frequency, crossing runways and activities that can cause smoke and the threat of punishment is Article 421 with a maximum imprisonment of three years and / or a maximum fine. a lot of Rp1 billion, "he explained.

At the same place, Kalambangja Lanud Supadio added that kites are very dangerous when played around the airport within a 5 mile radius or 8,054 m from the airport with an altitude of more than 500 feet or about 152.5 m from the ground.

"Kites are dangerous on all types of aircraft, both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, because kites can close the aircraft's air intake which causes the aircraft engine to shut down. For this reason, I urge the participants of the socialization to provide an understanding for others not to play. kites around the airport, "he said.
