JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo asked for the alleged blasphemy during the The Sounds Project music festival in Ancol, North Jakarta, to be processed legally.
Pramono said he had asked the Assistant for People's Welfare (Askesra) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary Ali Maulana Hakim to take steps regarding the alleged use of religious symbols and verses in the promotion of alcoholic beverages at the music festival.
"I have immediately asked Mr. Assistant for People's Welfare to process this, take legal action," said Pramono at the Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (12/8/2026).
The alleged blasphemy surfaced after a video circulated on social media showing the promotional activities of alcoholic beverages at the The Sounds Project music festival in Ancol on Sunday (9/8/2026).
In the video, there is an alleged promotion of alcoholic beverages by using the challenge of memorizing verses in the Quran to visitors.
Pramono emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) did not want the issue to be considered trivial. According to him, the use of religious symbols in promotional activities is a sensitive issue that can disturb public peace.
"We have no word of apology. Jakarta is calm, cool, safe, comfortable, people play with religion which I think is very sensitive," said Pramono.
DKI DPRD Requests Tightened Supervision
This issue has also previously been a concern of a number of members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD in a plenary meeting at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building.
Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PKS Faction, M. Subki, asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to tighten supervision of the circulation of alcoholic beverages in the capital.
"It is easy for PTSP and the Ministry of Trade to give online permission for the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages, and our people are the victims. Hopefully this note will get the attention of the Governor and his staff," said Subki.
He hopes that this issue will be a serious concern for the government, especially in overseeing the circulation and sale of alcoholic beverages in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta DPRD Member from the PKS Faction Ahmad Yani asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure that every large-scale activity has a clear supervision mechanism.
Supervision, he said, needs to include tenant activities, sponsors, product promotions, to the materials used during the event.
"Don't let this kind of incident happen again. We don't want public spaces and entertainment activities to be places where religious symbols are used indiscriminately for promotional purposes," said Ahmad Yani.
He also hopes that the authorities can follow up on the alleged use of religious symbols in the promotion in accordance with applicable laws.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has previously asked that this issue be handled seriously. Pramono emphasized that legal steps were needed so that similar incidents would not occur again in the organization of music festivals and other entertainment activities in Jakarta.
