JAKARTA - A woman convicted of a violation of the Islamic Sharia Qanun in Southwest Aceh (Abdya) ZV has fainted after serving 100 lashes at the Class II B Blangpidie Prison.

Head of the Pidum for the District Prosecutor's Office, Abdya M Agung Kurniawan, in Blangpidie on Friday, said the convict who fainted after being whipped had the initials ZV (19), a resident of Babahrot Abdya District.

"The convict who fainted after undergoing the whipping immediately received treatment from officers in the field," said Abdya, as reported by Antara.

ZV was sentenced to lashes for being proven to have committed adultery with a non-marriage partner with the initials AM (18), a resident of Tangan-Tangan District, Abdya.

The non-mahram couple each had to undergo 100 lashes for having had sexual intercourse (zina) without any ties of marriage.

"The non-mahram couple violated Article 33 paragraph (1) of Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law," he also said.
