Head Of Counter Terrorism Agency Checks Location Of XX Papua PON

JAKARTA - Head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Boy Rafli Amar directly inspected the location of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) for the sport of rollerblading to ensure the race ran safely from terror threats.

"We will continue to work together with all officers and the community in Jayapura, Timika, and Merauke so that the XX PON can take place in a conducive manner," said Boy Rafli, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 1.

In addition to ensuring the security and smooth running of PON XX Papua, the former Papuan Police Chief had the opportunity to award medals to the roller skate athletes of the provinces of DKI Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java for winning the men's 24 km marathon and women's 24 km marathon categories.

Boy Rafli appreciated the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the athletes who attended the tournament.

Meanwhile, General Chairperson of the All-Indonesian Roller Skate Association (Perserosi) Velix Vernando Wanggai, who appeared to be present with the Head of BNPT, appreciated the presence and support of BNPT in nurturing Indonesia's young generation.

According to Velix, with the smooth implementation of PON, the talent development of the younger generation can have a positive impact on Papua and Indonesia.

"This is a commitment and support from BNPT. PON can run well, so from one side, it builds young Indonesian talent, also in the context of Papuan development," said Velix Vernando.

Velix added that sport is an effective form of diplomacy in increasing solidarity and peace in Papua.

"This is a very good entry point by the Head of BNPT in the context of social development, a soft approach for Papuan development," he continued.

Receiving a positive response from various elements of society, BNPT is committed to continuing to collaborate with local security forces and related parties so that PON XX Papua can run safely.
