Hiding In Bekasi Becomes An Ironworker, Religious Teacher Who Molested Teenagers In Sampang Arrested

SAMPANG - Police officers from Sampang, East Java, arrested perpetrators of child sexual abuse at their hiding place in Bekasi City, West Java.

"The arrest was made by the Sampang Police Criminal Investigation Team on September 26, 2021," said Sampang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Sudaryanto, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 28.

The suspect, with the initials SL (40), is a teacher at a private religious education institution in Kedungdung District, Sampang. The victim was a 16 year old teenager.

Sudaryanto said the perpetrator had hidden in his nephew's house on Jalan Rawa Baru, West Cikarang District, Bekasi City.

The arrest of the perpetrator was due to information from the public and the results of the investigation by the Sampang Police and Intelligence Team, which this institution deployed to track down the suspect's whereabouts.

"During the escape and hiding in Bekasi, the perpetrators worked as scrap metal workers, after the perpetrators came home from work, we arrested them," said Sudaryanto.

The arrest was due to the cooperation between the Resmob Unit and the PPA Unit of the Sampang Police with the Resmob Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police.

To the Sampang Police Investigation Team, the suspect SL admitted that he had sexually harassed the victim who was still a minor. The unlawful act was carried out on August 30, 2021.

"Indeed, the person concerned has been divorced for a long time with his wife," said Sudaryanto.

Based on the confession, the perpetrator has never done this act with many victims. However, the police are still investigating the case to reveal the possibility of new facts.

"This SL's actions are new to the victim, none other than the neighbor's child, but we continue to develop it again," he said.

The police charged the suspect with Article 81 and Article 82 paragraph 2 of Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, which carries a 20-year prison sentence.

In addition to the legal process, the police provide assistance to the victim because until now the victim is still traumatized by the suspect's actions.
