SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government has again sent support for medical devices in the form of oxygen concentrators for the occasional need for athletes and officials at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) in 2021.
"Previously, medical equipment has been sent there, but now there are five additional units to meet the needs of athletes and officials," said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa at the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 27.
The East Java Provincial Government received as many as 150 oxygen concentrator units from the Indonesian Ministry of Industry in collaboration with the Indonesian Refined Sugar Association (AGRI).
Support in the form of an oxygen concentrator can be used to meet oxygen needs without refilling the tube.
Hundreds of other oxygen concentrator units were immediately distributed to several type C hospitals, especially hospitals in areas whose affordability requires special attention.
"For example in the archipelago," said Khofifah.
He believes that this assistance can provide great benefits for the people of East Java, especially since it can directly process oxygen from the air, so there is no need to refill the tube.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Seafood and Fisheries Industry at the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Supriyadi, who symbolically handed over the aid, added that the COVID-19 pandemic has been going on for about 1.5 years, but the industrial sector is still showing good performance.
"Including industries in East Java whose performance is still very good in providing a sizeable contribution to economic growth," he said.
The Ministry of Industry, said Supriyadi, has received 2,400 oxygen concentrators from the industry, one of which is from AGRI in the hope of being able to control COVID-19.
The oxygen concentrator is also expected to be useful for the people in East Java, moreover, its use is more efficient and effective, even in remote areas.
